About the Dance Massive
Dance Massive programmes contemporary dance works and associated public and industry events at four Melbourne arts organisations throughout March. Dance Massive allows the organisations to share resources, collaborate, promote and celebrate contemporary dance under one banner.
In this sixth edition of Dance Massive, the contemporary dance festival will present urgent and thought-provoking work made in direct response to our times. The 2019 program includes vital questions of identity, equality, environmental collapse, rapid technological growth, a longing for home and so much more.
Since 2009, Dance Massive has welcomed audiences of over 56,000 to 90 contemporary Australian dance works.
British delegates
Maria Ryan, Creative Learning Producer at the Place
Maria trained as a contemporary dancer at Lewisham College, London, and the London Contemporary Dance School (LCDS) from 1989-1994. In her current role, she produces projects, workshops, and performances with schools and local community groups. She also manages all the contextual events with the professional artists and companies performing at The Place Theatre.
Freddie Opoku-Addaie
Freddie Opoku-Addaie is a British-born choreographer, performer, and educator of Ghanaian heritage. He juxtaposes instinctive movement, ritualistic folk practices, structured choreography, with rules and parameters of gaming.
