Rubem Corrêa Barbosa is a professional Brazilian Diplomat having entered the Brazilian Foreign Service in 1975.
Since that time, he has served in Ottawa, Lagos, Lisbon, Bogota and Los Angeles. In Brasilia, he has served in various positions: the Protocol Section, Europe Division, Cultural Department, Near East Division, South America Division, and as Director of the Brazilian Diplomatic Academy.
More recently, Ambassador Barbosa was International Adviser to the Minister of Justice, and from 2005 until being posted to Canberra as Brazilian Ambassador to the Commonwealth of Australia, he was the International Advisor to the Minister of Mines and Energy, then Minister Dilma Rousseff, who is the current President of the Federative Republic of Brazil.
